You never know how rich you are until tragedy strikes and all of your friends are there to help.......That's what being rich is all about........not money or things, but the people that love and support you.

A comment on "ENVY"

When you constantly envy what others have or what they have achieved, you de-value what you have and what you have achieved. Possessions are only things, and social status is tenuous.....but peace, contentment, and love and appreciation of the things and the people that surround you, are more priceless than anything another person may possess..........................S.

in a room of silence
a sound arises

screaming for attention
crying for acceptance

are there no ears to hear
nor eyes to see?

is there no one around
a plea unheard

the room closes in
the sound ceases

back to the silence
no longer me

Do you sometimes wonder why people behave the way they do?????? Do some people "try" your patience more than others??? I always wonder if I am supposed to stick around these people or let them go. Is "my lesson" from them to stay, or let them drift away to reach whatever shore they can possibly land on? I ask myself this every day. Some people literally drain your energy and your soul. These are the ones I am speaking of. Is it selfish to say "bye bye" or am I supposed to somehow know how and when to help? Meditation sometimes will give the answer, but I have yet to KNOW what to do in certain circumstances. If I am uncomfortable, do I let it go???? Or, in being uncomfortable, is that "my lesson" that I am supposed to be working through? This entry is nothing but questions. Does that mean that life is nothing but questions? May be! How then do we know? Searching for insight is a long struggle. I want so much to know my scorecard. We all are products of what we have experienced. When is that an excuse and when is that an acceptable reason for behavior? Do you find yourself reacting to things that are totally out of character for you? Is it me or is it someone else??? Much food for thought. Sometimes I just want peace, quiet, and security....is that selfish???

July 4, 2011

This weekend thru the 4th I am so thankful I live in this wonderful country. We are free to disagree, we are free to climb as high as we can, or fall as low as we can go.....but we always are free to enjoy the personal liberties that other countries deny their citizens. I do not want to trade places with any other citizen of any other country . These freedoms are why millions come to this country to live. We need to be ever mindful that we do not let politicians "chip" away at our freedoms for their own personal agendas. These freedoms were hard won by our ancestors who believed in leaving us with a very noble legacy. Cherish your legacy and make sure it stands tall and free for the generations to come after ours.

Sometimes a "funk" comes over us when we least expect it. Sometimes a reason is easily pinpointed and other times not. I find I have trouble fighting the kind that seems to have no reason. It is very hard sometimes to stay within the "light" and not succumb to the darkness. There seem to be phases or waves that catch up with my spirit and drag me down into the depth. I guess we all fight these times in one way or another. I usually manage my way back up, but always wonder what the heck happened. The mind is such a mysterious place and it has a tendency to wander off when we are not vigilant. Thankfully I am blessed with resilience. Some people never seem to find their way back up to the light. That is something that is very tragic about the human mind. A purpose for our lives should be to always look up, and/or forward. There is always another day and always a lesson to be learned from whatever just happened. The trick is to see beyond the "funk" and know that the universe is telling us something for our own good. It is up to us to tap into the what, why, and how. If we let it overtake us, we have lost the lessons we were supposed to learn and wasted the time we were down. The time cannot be considered wasted if we glean some wisdom from our journey.

What a glorious day. There is nothing like seeing the world through a child's eyes. I helped a friend who teaches an art class today. She was having them "blow" out the insides of an egg until hollow and then decorate the eggs for Easter. I tell ya.....some of those eggs were hard to blow all the insides out. Seeing the kids get so excited by this project was such a charming adventure. Who knew something this simple could delight a young mind. I think they would have blown these eggs until they fell asleep. They had as much fun doing this as they did the decorating. The eggs turned out beautifully and the kids had lots to take home and share their day of creativity. Wouldn't it be wondrous if we all could get lost in a few hours of reverie like these kids did. Not thinking of things that needed to be done, or things that weren't getting done....but just plain fun doing something you had never done before and creating your own little piece of artwork. If we could all only lose ourselves over like this for just a few minutes a day; think how much fun each day would become.

Here in Orlando, we will soon be beseiged by every reporter known to man for the CASEY ANTHONY child murder case. It will soon become a circus with food vendors, t-shirt and souvenir vendors, and media from all over. The trial starts May 9 and already the city has so many requests for vendor licenses, seats in the courtroom, etc. I am no fan of this woman who is on trial for the murder of her child; but, I fail to see the necessity of the carnival atmosphere that will soon be on the main drag of our city. Locals are already tired of the constant national media circus and this will culminate in a fiasco that could actually jeopardize a fair trial for this woman. Love her, or hate her.........she deserves her day in court in front of a jury of her peers, not a three ring circus full of distracting and questionable information posing as the truth. The child has been forgotten or exploited here, and a beautiful 3 year old who held such promise is gone.

Always loved the Roy Orbison song "In Dreams". In dreams we get to travel anywhere without the heavy bodily "tag along". I truly believe that in dreams we can visit those who may be too far away to easily visit. We can travel beyond barriers that limit us in this material world we abide in. It's so much fun to wake up and remember a dream that was pleasant and matched us up with someone far removed from us in every day life. My favorite ones are "flying dreams". We've all had them....Admit it! They are so much fun and so exhilarating. I haven't had one of those in a long while, but still love them. Our dreams can help us release the tension and angers of a day. They can give us insight into our problems. They can inspire our creative side by not having conscious distractions. Some nights I look forward to sleep so I can connect somehow, somewhere with those I think of but rarely see. Keep something to write with by your bed so you can write down what you find in the ethereal world of dreamstate. These memories quickly leave us as we awaken to the everyday life. There are so many clues in our dreams that you could spend all of your time trying to figure out their meaning........I have found that repetitive dreams really seem to be trying to tell you something. Listen to your soul as it returns from it's nightly travels. Everything happens for a reason and dreams are no exception.

spiritual studies

I am studying Kabbalah right now as I have been interested in different religions since I was about 13 years old. I have also delved in Eastern religions, Christianity and Judaism. Kabbalah is enlightening and so real. It is, however, hard to deal with people who drain your spirit with negativity when you are trying to rid yourself of it by your learning process.
I find people who are judgemental and hypercritical seem to be caught in jealousy, anger, fear, and self doubt. These are all such destructive emotions and they tend to push people away who might genuinely wish to be friends with you. I have been in these very emotional prisons and do not wish to return. I never know if it is right to leave these people out of my life, or stay around and be the "light" that they need. Kabbalah teaches us that we must always share the light within us to become more of the light ourselves. I have found, for myself, that material things and aspirations are not always what we need, but what our ego wants. Ego is our own worst enemy. We try to become someone or some thing that we were never meant to be. We see other's lives as more fulfilling, or rewarding. In reality, every circumstance has it's own problems and rewards. We need to learn to walk in someone elses shoes before we utter any judgements upon them or their choices. We each travel our own road and only we can choose each twist and turn. Choose wisely and never judge the well traveled road as any better than the small overgrown path. Greater wisdom may come in exploring the lesser known road. The well traveled path may be easier; but it also may lead to less of a spiritual awakening than the lesser traveled one.

Seems like every day we run into people who harbor negativity and anger. I am trying to work on my own and have enough trouble taking that on without encountering others.
Sometimes it is very hard not to lash out and say "STOP"..........you are intruding on my life.
We cannot solve every problem in this life; but, we can try to solve our own one at a time.
Music is the poetry of the heart.
Poetry is the passion of our soul.
Soul is the center of our essence.
Essence is our personal particle of God
God is the music in our life. And so the wheel of creation has neither beginning nor end.
This is a place for me to air my thoughts, track my spiritual progress, and maybe do a little creative writing when the inspiration hits my conscious mind.

I am just begining this so I have no idea how it will blossom or fly.
